Insight Arts is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors. Insight Arts believes it is essential that we model the form of governance within our own organization that we are struggling to materialize in the larger world. This means that the Insight Arts board has always been extremely diverse in terms of race, gender, age, national background, and sexuality. It also means that we see the board as an important conduit for building governance experience among working class and economically disadvantaged people and among individuals from groups generally shut out of positions of governing power.
Members of the Insight Arts board of directors make a commitment to govern with the spirit of Praxsis (a belief in the importance of an engaged relationship between theory and practice). This means that members of the board of directors are required to engage in rigorous study and dialogue with each other around issues related to the protection of human rights, the building of movements for social justice and contemporary art theory and practice. |
