Colonialism and Imperialism
Insight Arts believes in the self-determination of all people. We understand that countries like the United States that were formed as colonial settler projects have problematic relationships to the concept of democracy and citizenship. We reject all forms of Imperialist projects as inherently oppressive. We do not support the use of violence except in cases of self-defensive. We label all military projects not related to self-defense as illegitimate occupations. We believe that justice and stability are best handled by multi-national security forces answerable to regional and international democratic bodies. |
