Racism and Ethnic Intolerance
Insight Arts follows the thinking of American sociologists Michael Omi and Howard Winant in describing race as “an unstable and decentered complex of social meanings constantly being transformed by political struggle. Based on this definition we define racism as all political projects that seek to marginalize and oppress individuals based on their racial or ethnic identification. We understand that in North America the major historic racist political project has been the creation of a white supremacist state. This state has granted political and social rights based on a racial hierarchy. |
